The owners of this 1967 home in Raleigh asked JeanE to help them update their kitchen while maintaining the modernist style of the home. As you can see in this “before” photo, the space was small, closed off, and was not the most appealing work space.
We started by tearing out all of the old to give us a clean slate. We opened up the wall where the sink was which gave us a fabulous view to the rooms beyond and made the kitchen the center of the home. Replacing the old laminate and carpet with wood flooring stained to match the rest of the house created continuous flow from space to space.
The layout of the space was modified to provide for a cooking zone, clean-up zone, and prep area. We brought in all new cabinetry, countertops, and appliances to create a sleek and modern kitchen that is perfect for entertaining. New lighting, cabinet hardware, stainless and glass doors, and glass tile backsplash finish off the look.
Jean Ehmke’s attention to details, precision and follow through have made her a joy to work with on our home renovation. She always has good suggestions and has a focus of staying to the budget. She kept us informed of when things would happen. Our end product is lovely and just what we were wanting to accomplish. She has an expert installer who does flawless work! We could not be more satisfied!
